Big Bullets have underlined their credentials as the People’s Team when their earnings hit K2.7 million on Wednesday in the TNM Sapota Mapeto Promotion which is run by giant mobile network service provider—TNM.

Statistics indicate that since the promotion started in June this year, Bullets have collected K2.7 million (about $6 750) while their arch-rivals Mighty Wanderers, who come second, collected K500 000 (about $1 250) less.

Speaking during the third draw of the promotion on Wednesday, TNM head of marketing Sobhuza Ngwenya said there is stiff competition in the promotion as supporters have stepped up the drive in sending SMSs for the cause of their respective teams.

“The promotion is getting exciting by the day as supporters are sending more and more SMSs.

“To date, K5.8 million has been shared by the Super League teams and Big Bullets top the chart while Evirom FC is anchoring the table in terms of earnings,” said Ngwenya.

However, during yesterday’s [Wednesday] draw, Wanderers emerged winners for September and will pocket K356 748 (about $891) followed by Bullets who earned K339 824.

A Silver Strikers supporter from Chamama in Kasungu, James Chipoka, emerged as Sapota Mapeto winner for September and will get a 42’ flat screen LG television set.

The promotion has helped boost coffers of the flagship league teams, most of which are battling a severe cash squeeze.

Each SMS costs K30 of which K21 goes towards the club.
